Software Expiration

Is some of your software near or past its expiration date? Software isn't good for as long as it used to be. Security updates need to be applied regularly, and older software must be upgraded to continue receiving patches. Please check the table below and contact us for assistance.

We're all busy, and patches and upgrades can easily be overlooked. Software	How to check	Oldest version patched	Recommendations
macOS	version and updates	12 until fall 2024	Upgrade to patched OS after backing up and reviewing compatibility. Install OS and security updates. Replace Macs which can't run patched OS.
Airport/Time Capsule	version and updates	no recent updates	Replace. Last update was in 2019.
Other network devices	check manufacturer website, e.g. Linksys or Netgear	check manufacturer website	Replace network devices which aren't being updated.
Acrobat or Adobe Reader	version and updates	2020 until June 2025	Upgrade to 2020. Previous versions should be uninstalled. Install updates.
Chrome	version and updates	latest version	Check version- should auto-update. Older versions are dropped from support when the new versions are released.
Flash Player	end of life	end of life	Uninstall Flash Player (if not removable, disable it.) Flash no longer receives security updates, and Flash exploits can compromise the entire computer.
Firefox	version and updates	latest version	Check version- should auto-update. Older versions are dropped from support when the new versions are released.
Java	version and updates	latest version	Oracle strongly recommends that you upgrade to the most recent release and uninstall previous versions. We recommend backing up before uninstalling.
Microsoft Office for Mac	version and updates	2021 until October 2026	Upgrade to Office 2021 or Office 365.
